Fourth Edition: A History of .NET Web Development
The fourth edition of my .NET web development history book is out today.

Since its inception in the early 2000s, the .NET web development platform has evolved significantly. Each release has introduced new capabilities, reshaped best practices, and responded to changing demands in how we build applications.
Understanding that evolution helps make sense of where the platform is today and where it is heading.
In this fourth edition, we follow the journey of .NET web development from its early foundations through to the modern ecosystem. We cover the shifts toward cloud-native architecture, improvements in performance and developer experience, and the growing role of AI-related abstractions in .NET 9, along with the continued refinements and simplifications introduced in .NET 10.
If you’ve read a previous edition, this one picks up where it left off and brings the story up to date. If this is your first time, it starts from the beginning and covers the full arc.
